Optimising training, education and employment opportunities
in Central Australia for people with a disability


The inaugural meeting was held on March 2nd 2005.

Objectives

  • That a strong interactive network of individuals and organisations working in the training, post secondary education and employment sectors is established and maintained in Central Australia.
  • To ensure information pertaining to training, post secondary education and employment opportunities for people with a disability will be made accessible and be timely and in an appropriate format.
  • To promote Vocational Education and Training National strategies to people with a disability as an educational choice with career pathways.
  • To identify and address gaps in training, post secondary education and employment options in Central Australia for people with a disability.
  • To inform the Post Secondary Education & Employment Network (PSEEN), based in Darwin, of issues that can be referred to relevant Ministers and other government officials, relating to training, post secondary education and employment options in Centralia Australia for people with a disability.


Intended Outcomes

    • More people with a disability will access training, post secondary education and employment to be recorded through CATEEN outcomes and any increase is documented.
    • People with a disability and all interested parties will be better informed of training, post secondary education and employment options.
    • People with a disability will be offered the appropriate support they require to gain optimum results from their training, post secondary education and employment experience.
    • Students with a disability who successfully complete their chosen training/course will be better qualified to pursue their employment of choice.
    • Training organisations, post secondary education institutions and employment agencies will promote the inclusion of people with a disability.
    • The network will raise issues and forward to PSEEN, as well as to media if necessary.
    • More people will experience the benefits and value of having a person with a disability participating in their training/course/employment.
